Langley Park, Beckenham BR3

This project had an ongoing issue with subsidence, the customer had the patio laid by builders who completed a rear extension. The issue with the local area is heavy clay which has a lot of movement and a MOT type 1 base wasn’t strong enough to endure the flexibility of the clay underneath.

We decided to lift the existing patio, remove the sub base and lower the level by 15cm. We then dug a foundation and poured a reinforced concrete base that linked into the new foundation. This created a solid base which allowed the clay beneath to expand and contract without causing the slabs to move. We then relaid all the slabs and grouted the joints.
